Neil Lund is a student at The Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai, where he studies Mathematics, Physics, and Economics at the Higher Level as part of the IB Diploma Programme. 

His love for math is something that has grown through finding opportunities to explore the subject beyond school. In 2026, he attended Stanford University Online High School’s Number Theory course and AwesomeMath’s Computational Geometry course, building his understanding through advanced coursework, proof-based exercises, and challenging problem-solving. He has also attended the Lodha Genius Program, Continued Learning: Foundations in ETEAM, and the national chapter of ETEAM, where he worked collaboratively on abstract math problems and was even recognised as a runner-up for Best Opponent.

Neil’s interest in mathematics has also led him towards its real-world applications. Through a mentored research project exploring mathematical modelling and optimisation for solar power generation and an internship with the Rocky Mountain Institute, he has explored how quantitative thinking can be applied to energy and sustainability challenges. At the same time, his experience as a mathematics tutor has shown him how rewarding it can be to help others understand a subject he enjoys so deeply. 

Alongside his passion for math; his work in robotics, music, theatre, debate, and community outreach have shaped his belief that learning should be both challenging and accessible. PiTime is hence an idea he came up with to bring these interests together by creating opportunities for students to discover mathematics through curiosity, problem-solving, and real-world connections. 

And perhaps, after all, it is high time we gave mathematics a little more Pi-Time.
