About the Project

At its core, ‘PiTime’ is a mathematics-focused project that hopes to make learning more interactive, and approachable for students from underserved communities in India. It plans to build a set of learning resources and activities that encourage students to understand mathematical ideas through everyday situations, while gradually developing their ability to reason and solve unfamiliar problems. Rather than focusing only on getting the right answer, PiTime hopes to support students in understanding how and why a solution really works.

The initiative is planned around a combination of educational resources and student-led experiences, including a practical handbook, a structured problem bank, interactive learning sessions, and a mathematics competition designed to bring together the skills developed through these activities. PiTime also hopes to organise a fundraising campaign to help provide students with mathematical learning materials and support the educational work of a partner non-profit organisation. Through all of these efforts, the project aims to create a more positive relationship with mathematics, while giving students the confidence to see themselves as capable problem-solvers.
